Manager for Strategy, Partnerships and Resource Mobilisation Oil Search Health Foundation, Papua New Guinea
Ross Hutton is the Manager for Strategy, Partnerships and Resource Mobilisation at the Oil Search Health Foundation in Papua New Guinea. The Health Foundation was established in 2011 by Oil Search Limited, the largest oil and gas producer in PNG, as a platform to deliver public health programs throughout the country.
Ross began his career as a nurse, working in critical care centres for ten years in Canada, the United States and Australia. He became involved in the Oil and Gas Sector while providing clinical services in remote oil operations in northern Canada.
For the past 18 years, Ross has worked in the Oil and Gas Sector in Papua New Guinea, initially in a clinical role for the company’s remote workforce, and later managing the company sponsored community health programs for malaria control, HIV, and Maternal and Child Health.
Ross studied Public Health and Tropical Medicine at James Cook University in Australia. In recent years he has focused his efforts on establishing the Oil Search Health Foundation and developing innovative public-private partnerships with the PNG National Department of Health and development partners, including the ADB, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and AusAID, to manage and implement a range of health programs in Papua New Guinea.
